Micro-Headlines:
The Latest Email Marketing Tactic
The latest email marketing tactic emerging is the
microheadline: a small, bold headline at the top of the
email browser window which reiterates the benefits and
urgency of the offer in the email below.
Generally shown in very small type, a microheadline enables
you to ensure that the most important piece of your message
gets through (and is seen first, because text loads faster
than graphics, and people read from the top of the email
downward).
This also enables you to provide the reader with a reason to
want to "unhide" the graphics, which may be blocked by their
email browser when they may actually want to see what they
say.
